Attack on Nasiruddin Patwary: Top 8 Chhatra Dal leaders among 115 sued

A case has been filed in Jhenaidah regarding the attack on the central leaders of the Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP). The case has named 110 to 115 other unidentified people, including the top 8 leaders of the district Chhatra Dal.

NCP Central Joint Member Secretary Tarequl Islam Tarek Reza filed the case with Jhenaidah Sadar Police Station on Friday (May 22) night.

The accused in the case include Islamic University unit Chhatra Dal Convener Shahed Ahmed, district Chhatra Dal President Imran Hossain, former president SM Saminuzzaman Samin, General Secretary Shahriar Russell, former vice president Nayan Howlader, municipal Chhatra Dal President Mobarek Hossain Emon and former joint secretary Hadu.

The case statement alleges that NCP Central Chief Coordinator Nasiruddin Patwary and party leaders and activists were leaving the city's Old DC Court Jame Masjid after Friday prayers when the attackers suddenly swooped on them. It is alleged that the attackers used bricks, GI pipes, baseball bats and sharp weapons to seriously injure several people including Nasiruddin Patwary, Tanim, Asif, Alamin, Hasibur Rahman, Nahian Khan Niaz and Ayan Rahman Khan.

The case further alleges that the accused took advantage of the attack and stole a Sony Alpha A6400 DSLR camera, Tamron lens, memory cards, several mobile phones and cash. The estimated value of the stolen goods is around Tk190,000. The statement also mentions that the attackers also threatened to kill the NCP leaders and activists while leaving.

The officer-in-charge (OC) of Jhenaidah Sadar Police Station said that a written complaint has been received from the NCP leaders. The complaint has been registered as a regular case. The entire matter is being investigated seriously and those involved in the incident will be brought to justice soon.
