Attack on Nur: Identity of red T-shirt attacker revealed

The person seen wearing a red T-shirt and beating leaders and activists of the Gono Odhikar Parishad with a stick during a clash in capital's Kakrail has been identified.

He is Mizan, a police constable and driver of the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Paltan Police Station, confirmed Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Ramna Division, Dhaka Metropolitan Police, Masud Alam.

The incident took plalce on Friday night (August 29) during a clash between Jatiya Party (JPA) members and the Gono Odhikar Parishad when the latter’s procession passed in front of the JPA central office.

Nurul Haque Nur, president of the Gono Odhikar Parishad, along with several activists, sustained injuries in the altercation with law enforcement agencies.

Earlier, DC Masud Alam said an investigation was underway to identify the individual in the red T-shirt and determine under what circumstances he was released.

Police officials are also examining whether he acted in his official capacity.
