Attack on Nur was deliberate, transfer abroad need immediately: Mirza Abbas

BNP Standing Committee member Mirza Abbas has called for the urgent transfer of Gono Odhikar Parishad President Nurul Haque Nur abroad for advanced medical treatment, claiming that the recent attack on him was deliberate.

Speaking on Saturday (September 6) during a visit to Nur at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, Abbas described the assault as “brutal and inhumane” and stressed the need for a thorough investigation into its motive and perpetrators.

“The government has promised to send Nur abroad, but any delay could worsen his condition. He is currently on heavy antibiotics, which cannot continue long-term,” Abbas said.

He recommended Germany as the best destination for treatment, citing its advanced medical facilities, while warning that treatment in other countries such as Singapore or Bangkok may not be sufficient.

Abbas also expressed hope for Nur’s full recovery and return to public life, urging the government to ensure treatment under qualified doctors’ supervision.
