Attack on shrine khadem in Kushtia

A case of attack on Kamal Hossain, khadem of the shrine of Hazrat Shah Rouf (RA) in Daulatpur upazila of Kushtia, was reported. At that time, his sister Rita Khatun was also injured in the attack when she stepped forward to protect him.

The incident is said to have taken place inside the shrine located in Dargatla village of Mathurapur Boro Bazar area of ​​the upazila on Saturday afternoon (May 9). The injured Kamal Hossain, 40, and Rita Khatun, 35, are local residents.

According to local sources, preparatory work was going on in the shrine area for the upcoming Urs. At that time, Khadem Kamal Hossain was painting inside the shrine. At that time, some people from the same clan came there and attacked him. When he tried to stop the attack, his sister Rita Khatun was also beaten up.

After the attack, the injured Kamal Hossain later filed a written complaint with Daulatpur police station. However, he said that he could not say for sure what caused the attack.

Meanwhile, the newly formed fair management committee has claimed that those involved in the attack were people known to the khadem.

Committee president Abul Hashem said that there were some complications regarding the appointment of khadems at the shrine and the incident took place in that context.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Daulatpur Police Station Arifur Rahman said that he has received the complaint. The matter will be investigated and necessary legal action will be taken.

Earlier, last month, the attack and murder of a pir in Daulatpur created a sensation in the area. After that incident, concerns have arisen among the locals about a similar attack again.
