An attack and vandalism took place at the house of former President Md Abdul Hamid in Mithamoin of Kishoreganj. The incident occurred at around 11.30pm on Wednesday, November 17.

According to reports, Upazila BNP brought out a celebratory procession expressing satisfaction over the International Crimes Tribunal verdict that sentenced ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal to death in the case concerning crimes against humanity committed during the July mass uprising. Around sixty to seventy BNP activists took part.

Local residents said about twenty to twenty-five participants from the procession moved from Mithamoin Bazar towards Kamalpur village and suddenly attacked the former president’s house. They broke through the door, entered the house, and vandalised windows, furniture, and other belongings. No one was present inside at the time, so no casualties occurred.

Stones were also thrown at the house of Upazila Jubo League leader Md Pavel Hossain, though no damage or injuries were reported.

Mithamoin Police Station Officer-in-Charge Alamgir Kabir confirmed the incident. He said the attack occurred after a celebratory procession following Sheikh Hasina’s verdict. Some household furniture, doors, windows, and several photographs were damaged. No casualties were reported. Police and army personnel have been deployed at the scene, and the situation is now under control.
