Police have said that Limon, the accused attacker involved in the assault at the residence of Rajshahi Metropolitan Sessions Judge Abdur Rahman, was known to the judge’s family.

The judge’s younger son, Tawshif Rahman, was killed in the attack that took place on Thursday afternoon, November 13. Police initially suspect that the incident occurred due to a personal dispute.

According to police, Limon Mia, who was previously acquainted with the judge’s wife, had sought financial help from her citing hardship. Although she had given him money once or twice, Limon recently demanded a large sum. When she refused, he threatened her on Facebook. Later, he went to the house in person, leading to the attack.

Rajshahi Metropolitan Police Commissioner Abu Sufian said, “The attacker Limon was known to the family. There had been some previous dispute between them. The attacker is also undergoing treatment for injuries.”

He added, “There had been a problem between the two parties over financial transactions. Earlier, the judge had also filed a general diary against Limon with the police station.”

The injured judge’s wife, Tasmin Nahar, was taken to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital. As her condition deteriorated, she was rushed to the operation theatre. The attacker, Limon Mia, has been admitted to Ward No. 4 of the same hospital for treatment and has been shown arrested by police.

Police said that a general diary related to Limon Mia’s repeated demands for money was filed on November 6 at Jalalabad Police Station in Sylhet.
