Attackers behind Hadi shooting will be uprooted: Attorney General

Attorney General Md Asaduzzaman has said those responsible for the attack on Inqilab Mancha spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi will be uprooted no matter how powerful their backing may be.

He made the remarks while responding to questions from journalists after a special prayer session organised by members of the Hindu community in Malithia village of Shailkupa upazila in Jhenaidah on December 13, seeking the recovery of BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.

Describing Hadi as a hero of the July mass uprising, the attorney general said he is now undergoing treatment after being shot by terrorists. He added that prayers are being offered wholeheartedly for his recovery.

Calling the shooting an isolated incident, the attorney general said a conspiracy is underway to sabotage the election. He alleged that terrorist forces linked to the fallen autocracy are targeting the leadership of the July uprising, but said they would not succeed.

He expressed confidence that the upcoming election would be free, fair and peaceful, stating that both the government and the Election Commission are fully committed to ensuring a credible poll. He added that voters would be able to vote for their preferred candidates and that the election would reflect the aspirations of the people.

At the event, the attorney general also sought prayers from the public for the recovery of Begum Khaleda Zia and Sharif Osman Hadi.
