Attempts to divide using religion will be resisted: State Minister

State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Anindya Islam Amit has called for social boycotts of those who try to create unrest and division in the country using religion. He said if anyone tries to divide Bangladesh through cheap politics using religion, a collective resistance will be built against it.

He made these remarks at a discussion meeting organised on the occasion of Sri Krishna's Janmashtami at the Town Hall ground in Jashore on Friday, September 4.

Anindya Islam Amit said some people want to create unrest and draw lines of division in society using religion. Others try to gain unfair advantages by using religion as a political tool. Bangladesh will not be given the opportunity to be divided by using religion in the political field.

He said whoever the leader of any political party or follower of any religion, if they try to divide the country and create unrest through cheap politics by capitalising on religion, a collective social resistance will be built against them. In this case, society as well as the state will boycott them.

The state minister said no one will be deprived due to differences in religious beliefs. Religion is a matter of human belief and consciousness. The current government is ensuring that no one in society lags behind due to differences in religious beliefs. At the same time, it is being ensured that no one can take undue advantage or be deprived because of religious identity.

He said the expectations with which people are moving forward after the 2024 uprising will certainly be fulfilled if this belief and mutual trust in society can be restored.
