Attempts underway to create chaos centring Sheikh Hasina verdict: Mirza Fakhrul
Sheikh Hasina’s verdict has created panic across the country. A certain quarter is trying to create chaos centring the verdict, alleged BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
He made the allegation on Sunday, November 16, at a discussion organised at the Dhaka Reporters Unity marking the 47th death anniversary of Maulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhasani.
The BNP Secretary General said in his speech that the country’s politics is now in a state of confusion. The present time has fallen into a complex crisis. A group, a party, is trying to create uncertainty in national politics.
He said that despite much frustration, confusion and uncertainty, there is a possibility of an election in February. But in this situation, without further delay, all political parties must come forward to support the electoral process and restore people’s voting rights.
Commenting on the country’s current situation, Mirza Fakhrul said the law-and-order situation is not good, and the situation is not normal. This problem will not be resolved without an elected government. Therefore, an elected government needs to be formed now.
Referring to tomorrow Monday’s genocide verdict against ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina, the BNP leader said a sense of panic prevails across the country. A certain quarter is trying to create chaos over it. If chaos is created centring Sheikh Hasina’s verdict, we urge the people of the country to resist it together.
Recalling the contribution of Maulana Bhasani, he said Maulana Bhasani had dreamt of independence and envisioned building a welfare state. But he could not live to see his dream realised.
He further said the BNP has a responsibility towards Maulana Bhasani. He had prayed for BNP founder President Ziaur Rahman and had instructed Mashiur Rahman Jadu Mia to work with Ziaur Rahman.
