National Citizen Party (NCP) chief coordinator (northern region) Sarjis Alam said that August 5 is a fidelity bestowed from the almighty to all of us.

He said: "Only the promise of not betraying that ultimate trust till death can bring us the desired Bangladesh. InshaAllah, we will do it unitedly."

He posted a status on his verified Facebook page titled ‘August 5, 2024 to August 5, 2025’ on Tuesday (August 5).

In the post, Sarjis Alam wrote: "A bloody mass uprising of the entire student population of Bangladesh against the autocratic murderer Sheikh Hasina! Sheikh Hasina fled the country in hiding. People who have been oppressed in various ways and in various fields for years started dreaming of the desired Bangladesh."

He further wrote: "After one year, we still have not got our desired Bangladesh. Maybe it is not possible to get it in just a year. But we have not got as much as we could have gotten in the year. In this case, some people may be less responsible, some may be more. But there is no opportunity to blame anyone individually. For a desired state, it is important for the existing important parts of the state to move forward simultaneously. Each of these parts complement each other in building the desired state. Starting from politicians, bureaucracy, law enforcement forces, civil society, media, businessmen, working people, to whom we refer to as the general public, everyone's contribution is important. If one part of them does not cooperate, it has an adverse effect on the other parts. Success is not possible. It is like a cycle."

The NCP leader said: "The person Hasina has run away. But the sick and evil practices that she and her cohorts have instilled in the minds, brains, thoughts, bone marrow, and behavior of most of the people over the years, there is no way to escape those as an individual. We have to constantly fight with this corrupt system, thoughts, and individuals."

"If given the opportunity, the rickshaw puller who increases the fare, the vegetable seller who increases the price of vegetables, the businessman who hoards goods for malicious purposes, the general public who expects recommendations even in exchange for money for personal gain, the politician who abuses power, the bureaucrat who brokers power, the civil society that becomes blind to interests, the media that serves the purposes of individuals and groups, the political party that prioritizes the interests of the party before the country; there is not much difference between any of them. Whoever has the ability, abuses power to the extent that he can. Our fight is from an individual point of view. Everyone has to do their part," he added.

Sarjis Alam expressed optimism, saying: "I believe that if we can continue our fight, then even if it is a little late, we can achieve our desired Bangladesh. The generation that can overthrow a fascist like Sheikh Hasina by a coup, no one else will be able to do anything in the future. On this path, there will be conspiracies, traps, backtracking, media propaganda, and attempts to break morale, but there is no chance of giving up. The few black hands who are the beneficiaries of the corrupt system have a lot of illegal money. They will use the maximum to create division among us, break trust, and make each other appear as opponents of each other. We have to face these things and move forward."

Finally, he wrote: "We have to unite in front of our comrades who have sacrificed their lives, who have lost their hands, feet and eyes, who are still walking around with bullets in their bodies. Their sacrifice cannot be allowed to go in vain at any cost. August 5 is a trust from the creator to all of us. Only the promise of not betraying that ultimate trust until death can bring us the desired Bangladesh. InshaAllah, we will do it unitedly."
