Aunt arrested from Narayanganj after baby torture video goes viral

The aunt accused of torturing a two-month-old baby by twisting its leg in a family feud in Narsingdi has been arrested. RAB-11 detained Farzana Akhter Lata Begum, 32, from Rupganj, Narayanganj, on Friday afternoon, July 17.

RAB-11 Narsingdi Camp Commander Md Ariful Islam said a video of the torture went viral on social media, triggering widespread reactions. Following the case filed at Madhabdi Police Station, RAB launched surveillance and tracked down Lata Begum, who was in hiding.

The arrest was made with the help of technology, and she will be handed over to Madhabdi Police Station for legal action.

Earlier, a case was filed on July 14 by Probation Officer Riza Akhter at Madhabdi Police Station against Lata Begum, her husband Kaushar Ahmed and her father Almas Mia. While Lata Begum was in hiding, her husband and father had already been arrested and sent to jail.
