Two children aged about four and two years were rescued from the side of the road in the bitter cold from Anwara of Chattogram. CNG-powered autorickshaw driver Mohim Uddin spotted the children and took them into his custody.

The siblings were rescued from the Mazargate area of Barkhain Union in Anwara Upazila on Sunday evening. Among the rescued children, the girl is four years old and the boy is two years old. The girl said that her name is Ayesha and her brother's name is Morshed. They stay in the Moulvir Shop area of Satkania Upazila and are the children of Khorshed Alam and Jhinuk Akhtar.

On Monday afternoon, we went to Mohim Uddin's house in Guchchagram area and spoke to the child Ayesha. She said that an aunt had taken them from their parents and left them on the side of the road.

Mohim Uddin said that he saw two children sitting shivering on the side of the road even after evening and he went near them. After talking to the older child and finding out the situation, he brought them home.

Mohim Uddin's wife Sharmin Akhter said that both children are sick. The younger child is also differently able. They got some relief after hot water bath and taking some food at night. She believes that the parents abandoned them because of their illness.

Anwara Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Tahmina Akhter said that the two children found on the side of the road have been rescued and admitted to the hospital. Once they recover, arrangements will be made to send them to a 'save home' through the social service office. It is believed that the parents abandoned the children.
