Australian High Commission advises using registered agents for safe migration

The Australian High Commission in Dhaka has warned Bangladeshi nationals planning to travel to Australia against fraud by fake migration agents. For safe migration, they have been advised to only use the services of registered migration agents or lawyers in Australia.

The High Commission issued the advisory on Saturday, August 8.

The message said a section of fraudulent migration agents are trapping people with false promises of employment opportunities and permanent residency. To avoid such fraud and receive proper visa-related advice, the most reliable way is to seek assistance from an agent registered in Australia (who may also work in Bangladesh) or a legitimate Australian lawyer.

The High Commission said all registered Australian migration agents must adhere to a strict code of conduct and professional standards. According to regulations, they can only charge fair and reasonable fees for their services. Additionally, they must inform clients in writing in advance about the type of services they will provide and the costs involved. They are also obliged to inform clients of any visa application outcomes as soon as possible.
