The Supreme Court's Appellate Division has issued a detailed ruling that allows government employees to qualify for higher grades, even if they have already received time scales and selection grades. As a result, approximately 15 lakh employees from government and autonomous institutions will be entitled to this benefit.
Badiul Alam Majumdar, member of the National Unity Commission and secretary of Shushashoner Jonno Nagorik (SHUJON), announced plans to appeal for the full repeal of the Fifteenth Amendment to the Constitution. The tribunal has also directed that the accused be produced before the court on July 22.
The International Crimes Tribunal has granted a conditional pardon to former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun in the case related to the July uprising, on the condition that he fully and truthfully reveals what he knows about the killings and crimes that took place.
