Election Commission (EC) has directed political parties and candidates to strictly follow the code of conduct while conducting election campaigns on social platforms ahead of the upcoming 13th National Parliament elections and referendum to be held on February 12.

Bangladesh and Japan have signed a bilateral agreement on the transfer of defence equipment and technology. The agreement was signed in Dhaka on Tuesday, February 3, by Lieutenant General SM Kamrul Hasan, principal staff officer of the Armed Forces Division, on behalf of the Bangladesh government. Japan’s ambassador to Bangladesh, Saida Shinichi, signed on behalf of his country.

A competition to violate the election code of conduct is underway across the country ahead of the upcoming 13th parliamentary election. Over the past 26 days, fines amounting to Tk 1,826,250 have been imposed for 276 incidents of code violations involving candidates and their supporters across various constituencies. During the same period, 176 cases have been filed over such violations.
