National University's Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor Dr ASM Amanullah said that the National University will not allow auto-pass.

“There will be no benefit by pressuring the administration. Whatever needs to be done in the interest of the university will be done. If the national university allows auto-pass, the education system of the country will be destroyed,” he said while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion organised on the occasion of the 32nd founding anniversary of the university on Wednesday (October 30).

The meeting was held in the syndicate hall at the permanent campus of the university at Gazipur.

On September 29, students besieged the vice-chancellor's office demanding auto-pass without sitting for the examination for the 2019-20 academic year of the degree course of National University. They are still demanding auto-pass.

Professor Amanullah said the National University controls 70 percent of the country's education. All other universities control only 30 percent altogether. “As a result, if you want to reform higher education, you need to reform this university first.”

A colorful procession was brought out from in front of the academic building of the university in the morning. The teachers and students participated in the procession parading various roads of the campus.

National University Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Md Lutfar Rahman, Registrar Molla Mahfuz Al Hossain and Controller of Examinations Enamul Karim, among others, took part in the procession.
