Warning that Awami League 'cohorts' will be kept sleepless, Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam said that they (Awami League cohorts) have made all kinds of efforts to destabilize the country using laundered money.

He said: "They have transferred a lot of money out of the country. Now they are trying to destabilize the country using that money. We will not allow this to happen under any circumstances. We will prevent it in any way. Wherever and whenever the law enforcement agencies are needed, they will go there and prevent it."

He said this at a press conference at his residence at DOHS in Baridhara in the capital around 3am on Monday.

He said that patrolling of law enforcement agencies will increase from tomorrow. Action will be taken wherever incidents occur. No one will be spared. If any negligence is found in the law enforcement agencies, action will be taken against them.

Jahangir Alam said: "Awami League is using a lot of money to destabilize the country. However, we will resist them with a strong hand. Those from Awami League who are doing these things will not be able to sleep.

"Awami League will not find a place anywhere either in the day or the night. We have strictly instructed the patrol team. If they cannot work, then we will take action against them. I want to say unequivocally, these Awami friends who are doing these things will not be able to sleep."

In response to a question from a journalist, the adviser said: "I have called senior officials of the law enforcement agencies. Now we will decide how and what to do. You will see concrete improvements from tomorrow."
