Awami League leader's throat-slit body recovered in Pabna
Police have recovered the throat-slit body of a leader of the banned Awami League in Santhia upazila of Pabna. The body was recovered from a bamboo grove in Ratanpur village under Bhulbaria union of Ataikula police station in the upazila on Saturday afternoon (18 July).
The deceased, identified as Abdul Shukur, 48, was a resident of Ratanpur village and served as the vice-president of the Bhulbaria Union Ward No. 9 branch of the banned Awami League.
According to police and family sources, Abdul Shukur left his house around 9pm on Friday after having dinner. He did not return home after that. On Saturday morning, family members informed the Ataikula Police Station about the matter, prompting the police to launch a search. Later in the afternoon, his throat-slit body was recovered from a bamboo grove next to Aziz's house in Ratanpur village.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Ataikula Police Station, Mujibur Rahman, stated that the police conducted an operation and recovered the body after receiving the missing person complaint. An investigation is underway to uncover the mystery behind the murder.
The body has been sent to the Pabna General Hospital morgue for an autopsy. Police are working to identify and arrest those involved in the incident.
