Awami League responsible for rise of Jamaat: Fakhrul

Describing Jamaat-e-Islami as a radical party, BNP Secretary General and newly elected MP from Thakurgaon-1 Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said that Awami League is responsible for the rise of the party.

He made the comments while interacting with journalists at his residence in Tatipara of Thakurgaon on Friday (February 13) morning.

Mirza Fakhrul said that the country was under a fascist rule for 15 long years. Whenever democracy is suppressed, when it is blocked, when its voice is silenced, other radical forces rise up and that is what has happened in this country. Whatever rise of Jamaat-e-Islam has taken place today is because of Awami League. Their repressive rule, did not allowed the opposition parties to function, not allowing them to innovate. This has happened because of them.

The BNP Secretary General further said that the people have already rejected the Awami League and the BNP has achieved a two-thirds majority. He also commented that the people will once again be able to stop all kinds of evil tendencies through fair, honest and welfare-oriented politics.

District unit BNP General Secretary Poygam Ali, BNP leader Balia Union former chairman Afaz Uddin Bhuiyan and local leaders and activists were present during the exchange of views, among others.
