Bakery worker beaten to death in Narsingdi
A bakery worker has been allegedly beaten to death after being locked in a warehouse in Raipura, Narsingdi. The incident took place around 8 pm on Wednesday (July 15) in the upazila's Jangli Shibpur Bazar.
The deceased, Nasir Mia, 22, is a resident of the Jangli Shibpur area of Uttar Bakharnagar Union in the upazila. He was working as a worker in a local bakery.
It was learned, citing police and relatives, that when Nasir went to the bazar on Wednesday evening, some people locked him in a warehouse and beat him severely. Later, he was rescued in a seriously injured condition and taken to the Raipura Upazila Health Complex, where the doctor on duty declared him dead.
Raipura Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Jannatul Naeem said that Nasir was brought to the hospital dead. There were injury marks on various parts of his body. The body has been sent to the Narsingdi Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
The family members of the deceased said that a person called them on Wednesday night and told them that Nasir had been beaten up by a group of people in the market. Later, when they went to the spot, they found him lying unconscious on the road. He was taken to the hospital with the help of locals, where the doctor declared him dead.
They demanded that those involved in the murder be identified quickly and brought to justice.
Raipura Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mojibur Rahman said that it is not yet known why Nasir was beaten up and who was involved in the incident. The matter will be investigated and necessary legal action will be taken.
