Ban imposed on 'switch gear' knives in Sylhet city

Sylhet Metropolitan Police (SMP) has banned the sale, purchase, carrying, hoarding, supply and use of 'switch gear' knives in the city area.

The ban was announced in a public notice signed by SMP Commissioner Abdul Quddus Chowdhury on Tuesday night, June 2, and later posted on the official Facebook page of Sylhet Metropolitan Police .

According to the notice, the sale, purchase, carrying, storage, supply and use of switch gear knives have been completely prohibited in the Sylhet metropolitan area in the interest of public safety and order .

The order will remain in effect until further notice, and everyone concerned has been asked to comply. Any person or institution violating the ban will face legal action under existing laws .

The notice did not specify any particular incident or recent security situation that prompted the ban .
