The popular tourist centre Sajek Valley of Baghaichhari upazila of Rangamati has been opened again for tourists. This information has been given in an emergency public notice issued by the district administration on Thursday evening.

It has been said in the notice signed by District Administrator and District Magistrate of Rangamati Nazma Ashrafi that by changing the directive of the emergency public notice issued on October 11, all the tourist centres of Sajek Valley have been opened for the travel of tourists.

Earlier the Sajek Karbari Association and Sajek Gono Odhikar Rokkha Committee announced a blockade programme on the tourism road. At the request of the Sajek Machlang Bazar Puja Celebration Committee on the occasion of Durga Puja, the two organisations took the decision to keep this programme suspended from October 16 to 21.

It has been said in the press release of the two organisations that the blockade has been suspended by showing respect to the main religious festival of the Sanatan followers, Durga Puja. However, they have claimed that this programme has been taken with the demand for the security of the people of Sajek and the protection of life and property.

It has further been said in the notice that if the administration does not fulfil their three-point demand, the blockade programme will be observed again after Durga Puja. Information will be given in this regard through a press release in due time.

Earlier the two organisations started an indefinite blockade for the second time on the Sajek road. Due to the blockade, vehicle movement from Jorabridge of Dighinala of Khagrachhari to Sajek Valley and the surrounding internal roads was stopped.
