Bandarban district administration has closed all tourist attractions until July 10 (Friday) following two consecutive days of heavy rainfall, citing safety concerns over possible flash floods, landslides and other weather-related hazards.

The decision was announced in a public notice signed by Deputy Commissioner Saniul Ferdous around 9:00pm yesterday.

According to the notice, persistent rainfall across the hill district has heightened the risk of transport and communication disruptions. In view of the prevailing weather conditions and potential hazards, the administration has suspended access to all tourist destinations to ensure the safety of visitors and residents.

During the closure, tourists, tour operators and the general public will not be allowed to enter tourist sites, waterfalls, hill trails, river routes, remote areas or any other locations considered hazardous.

The district administration urged everyone concerned to remain vigilant and comply with the restrictions until weather conditions improve.

Meanwhile, the Bandarban Meteorological Office recorded 135 millimetres of rainfall in the 24 hours ending at 10:00pm yesterday. Officials said the current spell of rain is expected to continue for another three to four days, increasing the risk of further weather-related hazards.
