The banned organization Chhatra League has taken out a protest march to protest the smearing of ink on the mural of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman built in the Kashiani Upazila premises of Gopalganj and to demand the return of Sheikh Hasina. Chhatra League leaders and activists took out the march around 12:15pm in the Ratil Horticulture Center area of the upazila on the Dhaka-Khulna highway on Monday.

After this incident, Kashiani Upazila Chhatra League Vice President Sumon Sardar shared a video of the protest march on his personal Facebook page at 12pm.

The video shows that a procession of 40-50 leaders and activists was taken out in the Ratil Horticulture Center area of the upazila on the Dhaka-Khulna highway. During this, they set fire to the road and shouted slogans like 'Joy Bangla, Joy Bangabandhu' and 'Sheikh Hasina will come, Bangladesh will laugh'. They condemned and protested the incident of painting ink on the mural of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Several vehicles were stranded on both sides at that time.

It is known that on Tuesday night (June 9) someone painted ink on the mural of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman built in the Kashiani Upazila Parishad premises. The next day some leaders and activists of the Upazila Chhatra League were seen cleaning the ink from the mural around 8 pm. When this video of cleaning the mural went viral on social media, a storm of intense anger and protest erupted within moments. The general public, including leaders and activists of the Awami League, Chhatra League and allied organizations, strongly condemned the incident on Facebook.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kashiani Police Station Muhammad Mahfuzur Rahman said, "I heard that Chhatra League leaders and activists had taken out a procession. I went to the spot and did not find anyone. The matter is being investigated."
