Bangla Academy seeks information for inclusion in Writers' Dictionary
Bangla Academy has taken the initiative to publish a revised and enlarged edition of its Writers' Dictionary. To this end, the academy has called for information from Bangladeshi writers for the inclusion of new entries and updating of existing data. Both resident and expatriate Bangladeshi writers will be able to participate in this process.
According to a Bangla Academy notification, interested writers must submit their required information through a designated Google Form by August 31, 2026. There is no provision for submitting any physical documents or evidence directly to Bangla Academy. The entire process must be completed through the designated online form.
Certain eligibility criteria have been set for inclusion in the Writers' Dictionary. Applicants must have been born on or before December 31, 1990. Additionally, they must have at least three published quality books. Authors with only one or two published books will not be eligible to apply for inclusion.
The opportunity has also been provided for writers who were included in previous editions to resubmit their information. Those whose names already appear in the Writers' Dictionary can update and resubmit their information if they wish. This will allow new publications, awards, career updates or other changes to be incorporated into subsequent editions of the dictionary.
Applicants are required to provide various details about their personal and professional lives. These include the writer's full name, father's and mother's names, spouse's name, place and date of birth, current and permanent address, mobile number, email address, educational qualifications and career details. Alongside this information, detailed information about the writer's literary activities and published books must also be provided.
For published books, the title, publisher's name, year of publication and subject matter must be mentioned. Additionally, applicants must provide details of any national or international awards or honours they have received. The information is being collected to create a comprehensive database of not only the writer's identity but also their literary activities and achievements.
Applicants must also submit copies of certain required documents through the designated online form, including copies of educational certificates, copies of national ID or birth registration, copies of the index pages of published books, and a recent passport-sized photograph.
Bangla Academy has stated that documents and evidence cannot be submitted in person. All information and copies of required documents must be sent through the designated Google Form. The deadline for submitting information is August 31, 2026.
