A significant bilateral meeting took place onFriday at the headquarters of the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) in Istanbul between Bangladesh’s Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan and TFF President İbrahim Athem Hacı Osmanoğlu.

During the discussions, both sides agreed to strengthen cooperation to develop football in their respective countries. Adviser Sajib highlighted Bangladesh’s recent progress in football, including the inclusion of players of Bangladeshi descent in the national team, and emphasized efforts to establish a sustainable football ecosystem. He also noted the large fanbase of Turkish football in Bangladesh and suggested organizing a friendly match between the two nations to further deepen sports-related ties.

The TFF President warmly welcomed the proposal, indicating that if circumstances permit, a friendly match between the women’s teams of Bangladesh and Turkey could be arranged as early as August. He also assured comprehensive support for Bangladesh’s football development through technical assistance, coach and referee training, sports medicine, and knowledge exchange.

Adviser Sajib praised Turkey’s courageous and humanitarian leadership in the Muslim world, particularly the role of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. He also invited the TFF President to participate in the upcoming Global Youth Summit scheduled to take place in Bangladesh this September.

Both parties expressed optimism that this meeting marks the beginning of a new chapter in Bangladesh-Turkey sports cooperation, which will foster closer and more fruitful relations between the two countries’ sporting communities in the future.
