Bangladesh Army urges public not to be misled by rumors

Bangladesh Army has urged countrymen not to be misled by false information circulating on social media and other platforms.

In an official post published on its verified Facebook page around 12:15pm on Friday (May 23), the Army stated that a vested interest group had disseminated a fake press release bearing the logo of the Bangladesh Armed Forces. The purpose, it said, was to create confusion among the public and sow division between the military and civilians.

"This is an attempt to mislead the public and disrupt harmony between the armed forces and the people," the statement read.

The Army urged all citizens to stay vigilant, verify information, and avoid spreading rumours. “Do not be confused. Confirm the facts and remain aware,” it added.

A copy of the forged press release was attached to the post as evidence of the misinformation being circulated.
