Bangladesh Butthan Association forms new Executive National Committee
The new Executive National Committee of the Bangladesh Butthan Association has been officially established, and its first meeting was held on Saturday (August 9) at the Association’s office in Dhaka.
The meeting was presided over by the newly elected President, Professor Maj Gen (Retd) Mohammad Quamruzzaman, MBA, psc, MDS, gsc, PhD, with sixteen committee members in attendance.
Based on the recommendation of the National Sports Council and after the completion of the previous committee’s term, the new Executive Committee of the Bangladesh Butthan Association was established. Professor Maj Gen (Retd) Mohammad Quamruzzaman was appointed as the new President. The newly elected Executive Committee comprises 19 members in total.
Among those present at the meeting were the newly nominated Vice President, Advocate Kazi Shafiqul Alam, Founder Trust University, Grandmaster Mak Yuree Vajramunee, renowned "The Superhuman" as featured on the Discovery Channel, who has taken on the role of General Secretary; Joint Secretary Khalil Ashraf, Professor Khalid Mahmud, DU, Lt. Colonel (Retd) Md. Yusuf; Principal Abdullah Al Mahmud, Capt (Retd) Tariqul Azam, Khalil Ullah Asraf, Meedi Hasan Tomal, Saed Tanvir Rahman, Abdullah Al Mahmud Salam, Kai Mahin Mahmud, DM Oayer Hossain, and Kawsar Matubbor.
During the meeting, President Professor Maj Gen (Retd) Mohammad Quamruzzaman outlined future plans and strategic discussions and about the upcoming Vajrapran exercise competition for the practitioners. He expressed his deep appreciation for the dedicated efforts of Grandmaster Mak Yuree Vajramunee, the world-record-holding Superhuman, in promoting Butthan, a South Asia-based combat sport, across various countries worldwide. Additionally, he commended the National Sports Council for their inspiring initiatives and emphasized the importance of engaging journalists, sports supporters, and sponsors in the global promotion of Butthan.

The Bangladesh Butthan Association was established in 1981, and Butthan was officially recognized as a national sport by the National Sports Council, Ministry of Youth and Sports, in 2013. Recently, UNESCO-ICM featured Butthan on their official website, recognizing and appreciating it as a distinguished Bangladeshi combat sport and martial art with global significance.
