Bangladesh expresses grief over Nepal flood deaths

Bangladesh has expressed profound grief over the massive loss of lives and devastation caused by the severe flash floods and landslides in Nepal.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs conveyed the condolences in a press release on Wednesday, August 26.

The press release stated that various reports on the situation in Nepal have confirmed hundreds of people are missing, many of whom are feared dead, including tourists.

Bangladesh is ready to provide all possible assistance to Nepal in rescue and relief operations, the press release added. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, the people and government of Bangladesh stand in solidarity with the government and the friendly people of Nepal during this difficult time.

Expressing deep sympathy for those who lost their lives in the disaster, Bangladesh expressed hope that the missing would be found soon and the injured would receive medical care.

According to the Nepalese Prime Minister's Office, 95 bodies have been recovered so far in the sudden flash floods in Nepal. Meanwhile, according to the latest information from the Nepal Tourism Board, 403 people are still missing.
