As part of efforts to strengthen bilateral ties, Bangladesh High Commissioner Riaz Hamidullah held a courtesy meeting with Indian Army Chief General Bipin Rawat in Delhi.

The Indian Army’s public relations wing confirmed the meeting on social media, stating that discussions focused on expanding joint training programs, enhancing military cooperation, and exploring avenues for closer collaboration to ensure regional peace and security.

Since the formation of Bangladesh’s new government, Dhaka and New Delhi have sought to revitalise relations. While political changes had briefly caused a strain in ties, diplomatic engagement has recently intensified.

Earlier, the Bangladesh High Commissioner also met with Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar.

Further high-level meetings are planned, including a visit by Bangladesh’s Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman to India, where he is expected to hold discussions with National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal.
