Bangladesh, Maldives to sign MoU for Cox's Bazar-Kuakata beach development

The government plans to utilise the expertise of the Maldives for the development of Cox's Bazar and Kuakata sea beaches. Both countries have expressed interest in signing a memorandum of understanding to work together in this regard.

The matter was discussed during a courtesy meeting between Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Afroza Khanam and the Maldivian ambassador to Bangladesh at her office on Monday, April 27.

State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism M Rashiduzzaman Millat was also present at the meeting.

Discussions focused on further strengthening bilateral relations between Bangladesh and the Maldives, as well as detailed talks on receiving expertise and cooperation from the Maldives for the development of the country's tourism sector, particularly Cox's Bazar and Kuakata sea beaches.

Both sides expressed interest in signing an MoU to strengthen mutual cooperation in the tourism sector. This initiative is expected to facilitate knowledge and skill exchange, tourism infrastructure development, and joint ventures between the two countries.

The ambassador reaffirmed the Maldives' commitment to work closely with Bangladesh and assured continued cooperation with the current government.
