Bangladesh no longer reliant on IMF, World Bank: Finance Adviser
Finance Adviser Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed said that Bangladesh is no longer dependent on the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank.
He made this statement on Tuesday (April 29) after attending a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Government Procurement at the Secretariat, in response to a question from journalists.
Dr. Salehuddin said, "Bangladesh has requested $1.2 billion in budget support from the IMF, and they have agreed. They are also positive about releasing the fourth and fifth installments of the $4.7 billion loan program together."
When asked about Bangladesh's preparation regarding Trump's tariff policy being suspended for three months, the Economic Adviser said, "Bangladesh views Trump's new tariff policy positively. Bangladesh will not engage in trade disputes with such a large country."
After three months, the Trump administration will make a new decision on tariff imposition, and Bangladesh is preparing accordingly.
