Estonia has been named the world's best country for relocation in the 2026 Global Relocation Index, while Bangladesh ranked 154th among 192 countries and territories, according to a report published by international organization ReloMove.

The index evaluates destinations for people seeking to relocate abroad based on 24 indicators, including quality of life, personal safety, healthcare, taxation, business environment, cost of living, housing, and ease of integration into a new society.

Estonia secured the top spot with a score of 72.8, narrowly ahead of Singapore (72.6) and Malaysia (72.0). The rest of the top 10 includes Portugal, Taiwan, Lithuania, Hong Kong, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Czechia, and Malta.

Bangladesh received a score of 54.2, placing it 154th in the global rankings. Neighboring India ranked 100th with a score of 60.6.

The report noted that India's strengths include its relatively low cost of living, affordable housing, and rapidly growing startup ecosystem. However, challenges such as its business environment, ability to attract foreign investment, and air pollution affected its overall ranking. India was ranked 87th for entrepreneurs, 102nd for families, 113th for retirees, and 126th for tax advantages.

According to ReloMove, the index groups its 24 indicators into four key pillars: financial and tax system, lifestyle and healthcare, safety and stability, and living conditions and opportunities. The rankings are then weighted according to the needs of different groups, including families, entrepreneurs, digital nomads, retirees, and individuals seeking tax-friendly destinations.

Experts cited in the report said that while income levels and tax policies remain important considerations, factors such as personal security, quality healthcare, employment opportunities, business prospects, and overall quality of life should also play a key role when choosing a country for long-term relocation.
