Bangladesh seeks UN support for fair investigation into Hadi’s killing
Bangladesh has requested the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) to assist in a fair investigation and ensure justice in the killing of Sharif Osman Hadi, spokesperson of Inqilab Mancha and a key organiser of the July uprising.
Following instructions from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Bangladesh’s permanent mission in Geneva sent an official Note Verbale to OHCHR on February 6, 2026, seeking technical and institutional support for the investigation.
The mission stated that any response from OHCHR will be promptly communicated to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The government reaffirmed its commitment to identifying those responsible for Hadi’s killing and bringing them to justice. It said the investigation will follow international human rights standards, ensuring maximum transparency and accountability.
