Ahmed Eltayeb, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Al Sharif, stated that Bangladesh is set to thrive and progres under the leadership of Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus. The Al-Azhar Grand Imam made this statement during a meeting with Prof Yunus at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Baku, Azerbaijan, on Tuesday morning (November 12). "We are optimistic about the future of Bangladesh under your leadership. You are a man of wisdom," he said. He also invited Prof Yunus to deliver a speech at Al-Azhar University and announced new fully funded scholarships for Bangladeshi students. Yunus, responding in kind, urged the Grand Imam to visit Bangladesh and witness the positive changes firsthand.

আল-আজহার আল শরীফের গ্র্যান্ড ইমাম আহমদ এলতায়েব বলেছেন, প্রধান উপদেষ্টা অধ্যাপক ড. মুহাম্মদ ইউনূসের নেতৃত্বে বাংলাদেশ উন্নতি ও অগ্রগতির পথে রয়েছে। মঙ্গলবার আজারবাইজানের বাকুতে রিটজ কার্লটন হোটেলে অধ্যাপক ইউনূসের সঙ্গে সাক্ষাতকালে তিনি এই মন্তব্য করেন। তিনি বলেন, ‘আপনার নেতৃত্বে বাংলাদেশের ভবিষ্যৎ নিয়ে আমরা আশাবাদী। আপনি একজন জ্ঞানী ব্যক্তি।’ গ্র্যান্ড ইমাম অধ্যাপক ইউনূসকে আল-আজহার বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে বক্তৃতা দেয়ার জন্য আমন্ত্রণ জানান এবং বাংলাদেশি শিক্ষার্থীদের জন্য নতুন পূর্ণ স্কলারশিপের ঘোষণা দেন। ড. ইউনূস তাকে বাংলাদেশে আমন্ত্রণ জানান এবং ইতিবাচক পরিবর্তনগুলো নিজ চোখে দেখার আহ্বান জানান।
