Bangladesh has expressed concern over the attack on civilian installations in the United Arab Emirates amid the war in the Middle East.

In a press release, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed concern over the incident and also highlighted the security risks to Bangladeshis living in the country on Tuesday (May 5).

A drone attack was carried out on an oil refinery in Fujairah, United Arab Emirates early this morning. Three people working there were injured.

The Foreign Ministry said in a statement that Bangladesh is deeply concerned about the attack on civilian installations in the United Arab Emirates. This incident has put the lives of Bangladeshi citizens living there, including civilians, at risk. The statement also said that eight Bangladeshis have been killed in the Middle East since the US and Israel started a war with Iran on February 28.

The Emirates has blamed Iran for the attack on the oil refinery in Fujairah. However, Tehran has not yet claimed responsibility. Despite a ceasefire in the Middle East since early April, the attack in Fujairah poses a risk of resuming the conflict.

Bangladesh has expressed its hope that the crisis can be resolved through dialogue rather than escalation. The Foreign Ministry statement said that it is possible to end all differences through diplomatic talks. Bangladesh also called on all parties concerned in the Middle East not to escalate the situation into conflict.
