Authorities in the United Arab Emirates have arrested 10 foreign nationals, including one Bangladeshi, for allegedly spreading misleading missile attack videos on social media.

State-run Emirates News Agency reported on Saturday (March 14) that the suspects circulated fabricated clips during the ongoing Middle East tensions.

UAE Attorney General Hamad Al Shamsi ordered a swift investigation and expedited trial for the accused.

According to the UAE Public Prosecution, some videos were generated using artificial intelligence (AI), while others used footage of missile attacks from other countries but falsely presented them as incidents in the UAE.

The detainees include nationals from Bangladesh, Egypt, the Philippines, Vietnam, Pakistan, Iran, Cameroon and Nepal, along with two Indians.

Authorities said the content posed a threat to national security and public stability.

The suspects are currently in custody as investigations continue.
