Bangladeshi dies after falling from lift in Saudi Arabia
A Bangladeshi expatriate has died after falling from a lift of an under-construction building in Saudi Arabia. The deceased has been identified as Sobahan Khan, 42.
According to family sources, he went to Saudi Arabia on November 19 last year for work. On April 7, while working at an under-construction building in Riyadh, he fell from a lift and sustained critical injuries. Co-workers rescued him and admitted him to Al Jazeera Hospital, where he died under treatment on April 11.
The family received the news of his death on Sunday night. Sobahan Khan was a resident of Paschim Maijpara village in Dasar upazila, Madaripur. He is survived by his wife and five children.
The victim's wife, Mariyam Begum, said they have been left helpless after losing the family's sole breadwinner. She has appealed to the government for assistance in bringing her husband's body back to the country.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Madaripur Al Noman said assistance will be provided to bring the body back following directives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The administration will also take initiatives to support the family.
