Bangladeshi expat injured in Saudi missile attack passes away
A Bangladeshi expatriate has died while receiving treatment in Saudi Arabia after being injured in a missile attack.
The deceased, Abdullah Al Mamun, 35, hailed from Mymensingh, was the son of the late Sawdagar from Bharbhara village in Rasulpur Union of Gafargaon.
Mamun was seriously injured on March 8 when a missile struck a workers’ camp of Al Towaik Baladiya Company in Al Kharij city, moments before iftar. He was admitted to Dr. Sulaiman Al Habib Hospital in Al Kharij, where he passed away on the night of March 17 while on life support. His body remains at the hospital morgue.
The same attack also killed Bachchu Mia from Kishoreganj and Mosharraf Hossain from Tangail, while several other Bangladeshi workers were injured. Mamun had suffered burns over nearly 72 percent of his body.
Family members said Mamun, who leaves behind a young son, had been hospitalised in critical condition since the blast. His cousin Shawon Morol confirmed his death.
News of his passing has brought grief to his family and local community, who are demanding the swift repatriation of his body.
