Bangladeshi shot dead by BSF along Moulvibazar border
A Bangladeshi man, Mujibur Rahman, was shot dead by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) personnel along the Duttagram border in Kulaura upazila, Moulvibazar, on Friday afternoon, June 12. The incident occurred in the Nishchintapur area of Sharifpur union.
According to local sources, Mujibur Rahman accidentally entered Indian territory after going down to the Manu River. BSF personnel opened fire, killing him on the spot.
Kulaura Police Station Officer-in-Charge Zahirul Islam Munna confirmed the incident, saying police have been sent to the scene and an investigation is underway.
Sharifpur Union Parishad acting chairman Nipa Rani Das said Mujibur Rahman was shot after crossing the border.
Srimangal Battalion (46 BGB) Commander Lieutenant Colonel Sarkar Asif Mahmud said they have received news of the shooting and are collecting detailed information.
As of 9:00 pm, the body was still lying at the scene.
