The body of Zamil Ahmed Limon, the Bangladeshi PhD student killed in Florida, arrived in Dhaka on Monday morning and was taken to his ancestral home in Jamalpur's Madarganj upazila for burial. He will be laid to rest in the family graveyard next to his paternal grandparents after Maghrib prayers.

An Emirates Airlines flight carrying Limon's body landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 8:59 am on Monday, May 4 . State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed received the body at the airport and handed it over to the grieving family.

Later in the afternoon, the body reached the Laldoba village in Madarganj, where Limon had hoped to spend Eid-ul-Azha with his family . A second funeral prayer will be held at the Laldoba Government Primary School grounds before the burial.

Limon, 27, was pursuing a PhD in geography, environmental science and policy at the University of South Florida when he and fellow Bangladeshi student Nahida Sultana Bristy went missing on April 16 . His mutilated body was recovered near the Howard Frankland Bridge on April 24, while Bristy's remains were found nearby days later and identified through DNA testing.

Limon's roommate, 26-year-old US citizen Hisham Abugharbieh, has been arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree murder . According to court documents, Abugharbieh had made disturbing online searches, including asking ChatGPT "what would happen if a human body was put in a garbage bag and thrown in a dumpster" days before the students went missing.

The family has demanded justice from both the US and Bangladeshi governments . The body of Nahida Sultana Bristy is expected to be repatriated within two days.
