Bangladeshi youth captured by BSF after firing at Roumari border
A Bangladeshi youth was allegedly abducted by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) after they opened fire near the Roumari border in Kurigram.
The incident took place around 2:30am near International Border Pillar 1062 in the Khatiamari area of Roumari Sadar Union on Sunday (January 11).
The abducted youth, 25-year-old Ali, son of Abdus Salam, is from Ratanpur village in Roumari Sadar Union.
According to the BGB and local sources, on that night, a group of 20–25 smugglers crossed the no-man’s land into Indian territory. They were attempting to transport cattle, cumin, drugs, clothing, and other goods over the barbed wire.
At that time, BSF personnel from the Kuchnimara camp in India fired at the smugglers. It is alleged that a youth named Ali was later captured by them.
Lieutenant Colonel Hasanur Rahman, commander of the Jamalpur-35 Battalion of the BGB, said that so far they have not received any written complaint from the family. However, they have learned about the incident through various sources.
BSF has been informed, but no response has been received yet, he added.
