Bangladeshi youth killed by BSF gunfire at Lalmonirhat border

A Bangladeshi youth was shot dead by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) at the Patgram border in Lalmonirhat.

The incident took place near pillars 864 and 865 inside Indian territory in the early Thursday (December 4).

The deceased has been identified as Sabuj, 25, son of Sherajul Islam from Pochabhandar area of Jogotber Union.

According to locals, Sabuj and several other youths crossed the border into India when members of the 169 BSF Battalion stationed at the Chenakata camp opened fire. Sabuj was killed instantly, and the BSF reportedly took his body further inside India.

Subedar Kamal Uddin, company commander of the 61 BGB Shamshernagar camp, said a flag meeting is scheduled between 10:30am and 11:00am today to discuss the return of the body and details of the incident.
