Bangladesh-India relations should be grounded on mutual interests: Foreign Affairs Adviser
Foreign Affairs Adviser to the interim government, Md Touhid Hossain, stated that Bangladesh seeks good relations with India, but these should be grounded in mutual interests.
He made this statement during an exchange of views with officials from various departments, freedom fighters, politicians, journalists, and civil society representatives organized by the Belabo Upazila administration on Saturday (December 14).
"We have sent a clear message to India regarding the issue," said Touhid Hossain.
The Foreign Affairs Adviser also reaffirmed the interim government’s commitment to transferring power to elected officials through a neutral and fair election. There is no doubt about this. "Our aim is to restore stability in the country and ensure a smooth transition of power," he said.
Touhid Hossain further clarified that the government's diplomatic efforts are focused on fostering positive relations with all countries, based on respect and equality.
Md. Abdul Karim, executive officer of Belabo Upazila, chaired the meeting.
Various local and national figures, including former Secretary of the Bridges Division Md. Zahid Hossain, MRDI Advisor Md. Shahid Hossain, Chairman of Bangladesh Energy and Power Research Council (BEPRC) Mohammad Wahid Hossain, former Air Commodore Khalid Hossain, Assistant Superintendent of Police Afsan Al Alam, and local political leaders such as Ahsan Habib Biplob and Oliur Rahman Kawsar also present there.
