Bangladeshi-origin Shariful Khan promoted to Brigadier General in US Air Force
Bangladeshi-origin Shariful M. Khan has been promoted to the rank of Brigadier General in the United States Air Force, a landmark achievement in his military career.
Khan was among the officers nominated last June by U.S. President Donald Trump for promotion to Major General and Brigadier General. A notice on the U.S. Department of Defense website on June 13 confirmed that 15 officers were nominated for Major General and 55, including Khan, for Brigadier General.
The induction ceremony for Khan’s new rank took place on August 20, as confirmed by former U.S. Ambassador M. Osman Siddique on social media.
Brigadier General Khan is currently serving as the Staff Director of the “Golden Dome for America,” according to the U.S. Air Force website.
A 1997 graduate of the United States Air Force Academy, Khan began his career as a satellite operator and has extensive experience in space control, space systems, and launch operations.
