'Bangladesh-Pakistan seek to strengthen people-to-people ties and trade'
Adviser to the Ministry of Industries, Adilur Rahman Khan, said that Bangladesh and Pakistan can collaborate to strengthen people-to-people contact. He also highlighted the importance of boosting mutual cooperation in Bangladesh’s sugar and leather industries, cement, shipbuilding, and agriculture.
During a meeting with visiting Pakistan Federal Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan at the Ministry of Industries’ conference room in Motijheel on Thursday (August 21), the adviser discussed the potential to expand trade with the brotherly nation.
In response, the Pakistani minister said that Pakistan is interested in various areas of cooperation, including industrial development, agriculture and food security, trade, and investment growth.
According to a press release from the Ministry of Industries, the meeting covered enhancing industrial cooperation between the two countries and other mutual interest areas.
During the meeting, discussions took place on signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) and Pakistan’s Halal Authority. It was also decided to form a joint working group between Bangladesh and Pakistan to promote the development of the sugar industry.
