Bangladesh-US agree to strengthen military cooperation
The successful conclusion of the Bangladesh–United States 9th Land Forces Talks 2026 has been completed. In a press release issued on Wednesday January 28, ISPR said the two-day Bangladesh–United States 9th Land Forces Talks 2026 concluded successfully on Tuesday January 27 at the conference room of the Army Sports Control Board at Dhaka Cantonment, held from January 26 to 27.
The two-day meeting was conducted as part of follow-up activities to the 9th Land Forces Talks held in the United States from September 8 to 10. Representatives from the armies of both countries participated in the meeting, where productive discussions were held on various important issues aimed at enhancing mutual cooperation.
ISPR said a 22-member delegation from Bangladesh took part in the discussions, led by Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Badrul Haque of the Military Training Directorate of the Bangladesh Army. On the other hand, the four-member delegation from the United States was led by Major Michael Jacob Oster of the Security Cooperation Division of the United States Pacific Army Command. Brigadier General Md Humayun Kabir, Director of the Military Training Directorate, was present at both the opening and closing ceremonies.
According to ISPR, both sides held extensive discussions on various aspects of military cooperation, capacity building and strategic collaboration during the talks. Emphasis was placed on training exchanges, enhancing capabilities in the use of advanced technology and military equipment, and strengthening mutual cooperation. In particular, detailed discussions were held on organising multiple joint training programmes and exercises, as well as innovative training methods to enhance military capabilities.
The representatives reiterated their interest in further strengthening ongoing strategic cooperation between the two armies. Both sides also agreed on taking effective measures to contribute to regional security and to enhance joint preparedness in responding to natural and man-made disasters. The discussions highlighted the importance of technological support and preparedness in addressing various global challenges, which will play a significant role in maintaining regional peace and security in the future.
