Bangladesh-US military launch joint exercise ‘Tiger Lightning 2025’
The Bangladesh Army and the United States Pacific Army Command have begun a joint military exercise titled ‘Tiger Lightning (TL)-2025’ at the Para Commando Brigade in Jalalabad Cantonment, Sylhet.
The six-day exercise, inaugurated on Friday, will run until July 30, 2025. It is being conducted under the combined supervision of Bangladesh’s Para Commando Brigade and the Nevada National Guard of the U.S. Army Pacific Command.
Major General Ascot A. Winter, Deputy Commanding General of the U.S. Pacific Army Command, was the chief guest at the opening ceremony.
According to an official statement from the Bangladesh Army, the exercise aims to enhance bilateral cooperation in areas such as regional security, counterterrorism, disaster management, and humanitarian assistance. The two nations are committed to working together to tackle global challenges, including natural disasters.
Tiger Lightning 2025 will feature 66 personnel from the Nevada National Guard and 100 soldiers from Bangladesh’s Para Commando Brigade. The exercise focuses on strengthening strategic joint operational capabilities and readiness.
Present from the Bangladesh Army were the Director of Army Air Defence, Director of Military Training, and the Commander of the Para Commando Brigade.
The exercise is expected to improve the professional skills of participating soldiers and deepen the military ties between Bangladesh and the United States.
