Bank accounts of Asim Kumar, Apu Ukil frozen

Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) has frozen the bank accounts of former Member of Parliament and Awami League central leader Asim Kumar Ukil and his wife Jubo Mahila League General Secretary Apu Ukil.

At the same time they have been asked to freeze the bank accounts of their two children.

BFIU sent instructions in this regard to all banks and financial institutions of the country on Wednesday (October 16).

Sources said all transactions in their accounts and their privately owned businesses will be closed. There will be no transactions for the next 30 days. If necessary, this period will be extended.

In the BFIU letter, the names, national identity cards of Asim Kumar Ukil, Apu Ukil and their children Shayak Ukil and Shuddha Ukil have been given. All account related information (account opening form, KYC and transaction statement) has been asked to be sent within two working days from the date of issue of the letter.
