Banks to remain open in key industrial zones for two days

Bangladesh Bank (BB) has directed scheduled banks to keep branches open in major industrial areas for two days to facilitate the payment of wages, bonuses, and allowances to workers in the ready-made garment sector.

The directive, issued by the central bank’s Department of Off-site Supervision, also aims to ensure uninterrupted export bill transactions during the Eid holidays.

Under the order, bank branches will remain open in Dhaka metropolitan area, Ashulia and Savar, Tongi and Gazipur, Bhaluka, Narayanganj, and Chattogram.

Banking transactions will be conducted from 10:00am to 1:00pm, while office activities will continue until 2:00pm. A prayer break will be observed from 1:15pm to 1:30pm.

The central bank has also instructed banks to provide allowances to employees working during the holidays in accordance with regulations and to ensure adequate security during transaction hours.
