A group of activists of the banned Bangladesh Chhatra League staged a protest march under the banner of the organisation in Satkania upazila, Chattogram . The programme was carried out on Friday morning, June 12, demanding the withdrawal of cases filed against former prime minister Sheikh Hasina and the cancellation of punishments imposed on students.

The march was held in the area adjacent to the Keranihaat railway crossing on the Chattogram-Cox's Bazar highway.

It is known that the march was led by Mohammad Ridwanul Islam, former joint general secretary of Satkania upazila Chhatra League. Later, a video of the march spread on social media around midday the same day.

In the video, 25 to 30 people are seen marching on the highway carrying a banner and chanting various slogans. The banner read, 'Protest march demanding withdrawal of all conspiratorial false cases filed against Bangabandhu's daughter, Deshratna Sheikh Hasina, and cancellation of all illegal repressive punishments imposed on students.'

The banner mentioned the name of Satkania upazila Chhatra League. It also featured pictures of Mohammad Ridwanul Islam, who led the march, and KM Parvez Uddin, former vice-president of Chattogram South District Chhatra League.

Satkania Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Jahangir Alam said the matter is being investigated. Legal action will be taken after identifying those involved in the march.
